Water Mill Building Supply (WMBS) offers the following convenient payment options: Cash, Credit Card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover), Check (Drivers License is required), or on WMBS credit account in good standing.


All Returns must be in unused, saleable condition, and in original packaging. WMBS reserves the right to limit or refuse to accept the return of merchandise at any time and for any reason. Clearance or Closeout items are not returnable.

Returns with either a valid sales receipt, or record of purchase on credit or COD house account, will be exchanged, credited to your account, or refunded in the form of the original payment.
Returns without a receipt may be exchanged or returned for store credit only.

At the discretion of WMBS, Cash or Check purchases exceeding $1000 may be refunded as a check or house account credit. Because checks may require up to fourteen (14) business days to clear, credit for returns on purchases made by check will be held until confirmation that the original purchase has been paid. Returns for credit may be assessed a 15% restocking fee.

The following items are not available for credit return at any time, only repair or exchange if defective: Ladders, Hand Trucks, Gas Powered Equipment, Cut Sheet Goods (plywood), Barbeque Grills, Mixed Paint, Books, Cut Lumber.


Claims for shortages, damage or error in shipment must be reported within 72 hours of receipt of goods.

Special Orders

Special Orders, for items we do not normally stock, are considered FINAL SALES, and may not be returned for credit, exchange, or refund, unless authorized by the Vendor.

If the return is allowed, a Minimum 25% restocking fee will be assessed.  All merchandise being returned or exchanged must be in its original packaging and in saleable condition.

Incoming freight costs for special order products will be included on the invoice. Sometimes, though rarely, freight charges aren’t known until after the customer has received product and invoice. In this event, freight will be billed on a separate invoice, referencing the original bill.

All Special Orders placed on COD accounts require a minimum 50% deposit prior to placing the order. Deposits made by check may delay lead time due to bank processing. Large orders may require a written approval from the customer prior to placing the order.

Customers are expected to take delivery of special order product in a timely manner. Orders that have not been picked up within 90 days after the first notification that the order has arrived, will be considered cancelled, and the deposit is forfeit. 

Custom manufactured items, such as custom windows and doors, are not returnable. Orders for custom manufactured items may be invoiced at time of arrival.

Emergency Return Policy

To discourage hoarding during impending emergencies, such as an oncoming hurricane, flood, or blizzard, WMBS reserves the right to limit quantities sold on specific products. Additionally, certain products may be ineligible for return after the emergency. If this restriction is in effect, a list of designated products will be clearly posted at all sales counters.
