Decking Products

Traditionally, only a few options existed for Decking surface options – Cedar, Mahogany, and ACQ. Today, there is an ever expanding array of products available, including PVC, Composites, and Tropical Hardwoods such as IPE.

Multiple fastening Options are available for each decking type. In the past, Decking was nailed down with spiraled or ring-shanked stainless steel or galvanized nails. However, unless the decking is also glued down with a construction adhesive, these fasteners can pull up, creating a dangerous situation for bare feet.

Today, most decks that are face-fastened are done so with screws. Water Mill Building Supply offers a wide assortment of decking screws, including stainless, galvanized, epoxy-coated, or painted heads to match the color of your deck. Screws by their very nature are much less likely to pull up, and will extend the useable life of your deck by many years.

Also, products such as IPE and Trex Decking, are available with grooves routed into the sides so they can be used with Simpson Eb-Tys, Tiger-Claw, IPE-Clip, or other invisible fastening systems. These clip systems eliminate face-screws, giving a smoother, cleaner surface appearance, and reducing the potential for moisture rot from surface penetrations.

ACQ, Cedar, Mahogany, and IPE are all stocked at Water Mill Building Supply. Composite or PVC Decks such as Trex are by special order only, but typically have a short lead-time.
